Makkasan has been home to myself for almost 5 years now - It boasts access to MRT Phetchaburi as well as the airport link. You can quickly get to BTS Nana and BTS Asok via the MRT or a bike taxi for around 30thb. There are lots of local restaurants and bars - also regarding condos and aprtments in Bangkok the rates are pretty fair from mid range to luxury. It's a central area that gives easy access to the heart of Sukhumvit road and all that Bangkok has to offer! If you're travelling around Thailand on business a lot then the airport link is very handy as you can get to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport very easily - not having to worry about traffic when getting to the airport is a massive plus when on a tight schedule! All round it's been a great place to live and I recommend it to anyone wanting options to access most areas of Bangkok conveniently. Good for socialising and for business.

Negatives

Being in the heart of the city means traffic gets crazy, as well as the pollution and noise that comes with this. However if you're on high floors with decent windows/Air conditioning then you can ignore all of that at home and enjoy the views. Also unlike other areas there aren't parks in the district itself really - you need to head to Lumpini Park or Benjakiti park to see some greenery - on a motorbike you can get access in 10-15 minutes however.

Lived here for 2 years - To be honest for the price point on rentals it's fair! It's also difficult to find 2 bedrooms in this area at this price also. The building is getting a little dated, the gym is ok considering. The pool is always clean but it's a little small compared to other buildings. The location makes it very accessible to Victory Monument and BTS Victory monument - 25thb on a motorbike taxi. One of the best parts of living here is it's proximity to the Suan Santiphap Park - 1 minute walk from the front door and your in the park where there is a running track and regular community aerobics - they also have a pretty decent pull up bars set - which a local group go almost daily and they're very friendly and encouraging. Having a green space next to property in Bangkok can be rare - it isn't massive but it's welcomed to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Also it's in close proximity to Soi Rangnam - lots of food options, Century Plaza also has a cinema!

Negatives

The building itself is a little dated now, however you can find rooms that have been refurbished more than other so have a look around. It's not new or modern but the price of rentals here reflects this. Gym could be better and the pool could be bigger too. Traffic on the road in front can get a little crazy - but that's Bangkok..
